Dear Church Family and Friends of Southtown,

What a great day Sunday was with the baptisms, joint service, and lunch together afterwards. You can see some pictures from the day on our website - www.southtownbaptist.com.

God is at work in our church, in people's lives, in ways we can see and I am sure in ways we cannot see or do not know about yet. We celebrate God's goodness to us, His blessings, and anticipate what is up ahead. Our hands and hearts are open to receive what He has planned for us.

Dead Sea Scrolls

This weekend is the second Sunday in our month-long emphasis leading up to Easter. Sunday we focus on our adult Bible study and small groups. Each class and group will be recognized. There will also be a video montage of some members sharing what their group means to them. I hope you will be present to support your group and your teacher/leader.

Dead Sea Scrolls

On Saturday, April 10, Ben Rhodes and his Bible study small group are going to hear a presentation from two professors at Bethel Seminary and view the Dead Sea Scrolls exhibit at the Science Museum. This exhibit is a once in a lifetime opportunity that I hope you will take advantage of.

Any and all Southtowners and friends are welcome to join Ben's group. It will begin at 9 pm. The cost is $25 per person and tickets must be purchased ahead of time.

Tickets can be secured directly on line at www.bethel.edu/alumni/events/2009/
dead-sea-scrolls. The website says it is for alumni, but anyone can sign up.

I hope to see you this Sunday for another day of worship, evangelism, ministry, fellowship, and discipleship. Do not forget to turn your clocks forward before you hit the sack on Saturday night.

Ardell RenoThis week's spotlight is on Amy Bigler. She was one of the three baptized this past Sunday.

Amy was born in Minnesota (another native Minnesotan in our midst!), spending the first three years of her life in Richfield, and then the rest in Apple Valley. At present, she lives there with her parents.

Amy has a diploma in Dental Assisting and is currently attending Inver Hills Community College. She is working on her Applied Science degree and afterwards plans to enroll in the nursing program. At present she works for Party City in St. Louis Park as a part of the management team.

You heard part of her faith journey Sunday about how the Kruses where instrumental in her coming to Southtown and to faith in Christ. This was the part I really liked, "I want to be baptized to show I have accepted Christ fully into my heart and soul."

Amy loves knitting and crocheting. She enjoys playing the piano, playing softball, cards, and board games, as well as going hiking. She is also very interested in archaeology.

Something a little bit different she has done is eat a raw sheep eyeball! You will have to ask her about it.

We are elated to have Amy as a part of our family of faith. Let us welcome her in as she helps us to be all God wants us to be as a church and as we help her be all God wants her to be.
