What should I expect during a typical worship gathering?
During our worship gathering, we believe simplicity is best and we are also being very conscious of safe social-distancing during this time of Covid-19. We will corporately sing together, both contemporary and traditional songs, as our worship team leads. After reading a passage of Scripture and responding in prayer, there is a time to give an offering back to the Lord. We then hear a 30-35 minute sermon from Pastor Chris. Lastly, we will close out our gathering with a song of praise and a time of response and personal reflection.
What should I wear?
You are free to wear whatever you believe is comfortable and appropriate for a worship gathering. Some members of our church will wear a suit and tie while others will come in a t-shirt and jeans. In both situations, we believe Scripture calls us to place a greater emphasis on preparing our hearts for worship than our attire. Whatever makes you comfortable is what we want you to wear.
What do you offer for kids?
Pre-covid, like many churches, we had much more to offer children and families. With safety guidelines, we feel it is best for very young kids to stay with their parents for the time-being. Children ages 4 through 11 (6th grade) are invited to participate in KidZone during the 10:30am service on Sundays.
For students ages 7th grade through 12th grade, the Southtown Student Ministry meets on Wednesday Nights from 6 to 7:30pm.
Are you affiliated with a denomination?
We are affiliated nationally with the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC), regionally with the Minnesota/Wisconsin Baptist Convention (MWBC), and locally with the Twin Cities Metro Baptist Association.
What do you believe?
The best way to learn about our core beliefs is to look over our church's Statement of Faith.
How can I become a member of Southtown Church?
We believe that membership in a local church is biblical and important. Membership in our church is open to every baptized Christian who gives evidence of the gospel’s transforming power and who agrees with our church covenant and statement of faith. The simple process for joining SBC is outlined here.
