![]() “About noon as I came near Damascus, suddenly a bright light from heaven flashed around me. I fell to the ground and heard a voice say to me, ‘Saul! Saul! Why do you persecute me?" Acts 22:6 God loves to get our attention. Most of the time it is not this dramatic. Louis Zamperini was invited by his wife to the Billy Graham crusades held in LA. Reluctantly, Louie went. That first night he could not wait to get out of there and said he would never go back. His wife convinced him to return, he said, "Only if we leave right when the preacher gets to that invitation part." That night, the Holy Spirit helped the inner battle raging war in Louie. When the invitation time came, Louie got up pulling his wife with him out of the tent. Suddenly, he stopped, turned around, let go of her hand and walked to the front and received Jesus as his Lord and Savior. Can you remember the time when you finally responded to Jesus and said, "Yes, I need you to become my Savior and Lord?" How would you describe that moment? What were the circumstances of it? Where were you? What were you doing? How did Jesus show up and cause you to respond to Him? Do you remember what you were like before that day? Do you remember how you were trying to run and lead your own life? Do you remember keeping Jesus at a distance and why? How was your experience of avoiding and pushing Jesus away similar to other people in your life? After that adoption into Jesus' family experience, what was the first thing Jesus did in your life? When was the last time you shared this real story with someone else? Who is God calling you to share this story with? I encourage you to take time now to begin recording this piece of your history. It is important for you to be able to articulate what your relationship with Jesus Christ has been like - the ups and the downs. Having it on paper will allow you to reflect in ways you would not have done. And then share it with someone. Praising God for showing up in our lives, Pastor Chris
