Families make Change Happen

God Moses-ed Amram in order to Jochebed.

How is God going to use your family?

This was the conclusion of the message I gave this past Sunday as I had the privilege to talk about how God used the parents of Moses to deeply impact the world. God loves to use families to change the world.

I shared 4 decisions that families can make in order to build a better family and community. You can find out about those four decisions on our website. http://www.southtownbaptist.com/messages.html

So what does "God Moses-ed Amram in order to Jochebed" mean?
Last Sunday morning, I woke up with the definitions of Moses, Amram and Jochebed running through my mind. I always love to find out the definition of Biblical names and places. There are usually some cool ideas, truths and life change that those names reveal.

Moses means to rescue from water.
Amram means exalted people.
Jochebed means to Glorify Jehovah.

God Moses-ed Amram in order to Jochebed.
God Moses-ed (rescued) Amram (exalted people) in order to Jochebed (glorify Jehovah).

God rescued exalted people in order to glorify Jehovah.

God used Moses and his birth parents, Amram and Jochebed to rescue and lift up the Nation of Israel for the Glory of Jehovah.

God loves to use Christ-Centered families to change the world. How does God want to use your family to change the world?

Praying for God to do great things through Christ Centered families.

Spiritual Battle Prayers

Have you ever wished or wondered what it would have been like to live during the human lifetime of Jesus? What would it have been like to see Jesus physically? What would it have been like if we had a chance to be a faceless person in the crowd listening to Him preach? What would it have been like for our faceless-ness to be seen by Jesus? What characteristics of God would we have seen, felt and experienced?

The amazing thing about Jesus, is that He was eager to leave this planet physically, so that He could be present to everyone all over the globe as the resurrected Messiah. So we can experience His characteristics right now. We can pray His characteristics onto our marriages, families, churches, friends and especially those far from God.

God has trained us, Christians, to pray these spiritual battling prayers of unleashing God's characteristics on us. I had the privilege to train Southtown and other Christians to pray the Numbers 6 Aaronic prayers of blessings.

"The Lord said to Moses, “Tell Aaron and his sons, ‘This is how you are to bless the Israelites. Say to them: “The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.”
“So they will put my name on the Israelites, and I will bless them.” Num 6:22-27

1st Characteristic = "The Lord Bless you." May Jesus kneel before you, helping you understand your needs and wants. Helping us humble ourselves before the King of Kings who wants to meet our most important needs.

2nd Characteristic = "The Lord Keep you." May you hear and experience Jesus valuing you as His Divine Treasured Child. May you sense His rescuing and keeping you from the lies, temptations and traps of selfishness, sin and evil.

3rd Characteristic = "The Lord make His Face shine on you." May all the of beauty, power and majesty of Jesus shine on you and push out sin, evil and separation.

4th Characteristic = "The Lord be gracious unto you." May Jesus give you the undeserved gifts He wants to overwhelm you with.

5th Characteristic = "The Lord turn His Face unto you." May Jesus turn His and your face to each other to have this wonderful face to face relationship. May you experience a rich closeness with Jesus.

6th Characteristic = "The Lord give you His peace." May Jesus, the Prince of Peace, give you His calming storm presence.

During the week of The National Day of prayer, let's pray these 6 beautiful characteristics of God onto to our families, our churches, our cities, our nation and our world.

Eager to do spiritual battling prayers with all of you,
Pastor Chris
