Jesus' Thoughts on the Super Bowl

Who do you want to win the Super Bowl?
Do you want the team who beat the Vikings to win or for that team to take a beating themselves?

Or do you have no interest in who wins?

Another question for you, who do you think God wants to win the Super Bowl?

What does the Bible have to say about this?

Since Philadelphia comes from the root word Philia which is a Greek work meaning friendship love, can we agree God wants Philadelphia to win?

Or does God want the Patriots to win because of Romans 13:1 "Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God." We need to be patriotic, right?

Hopefully, you hear my facetiousness.

I do believe God wants a victory. I believe God's victory is different. I believe God is fighting for something more important than who holds up the Super Bowl Trophy. I believe God is fighting for the souls of each person on each team. Jesus clearly said, "For God so loved the world (including both opposing teams and sides), that He gave His one and only Son, that whomsoever believes in Him shall not perish but have ever lasting life."

God knows each person on the opposing teams. He knows the condition of their heart, mind and soul. He loves each person. He invites each person to be adopted into His family. Jesus is constantly interceding for each person to receive forgiveness and adoption. Jesus battled for this while He was on this earth to the point of dying on the cross and then rising from the dead. He continues to battle for us every single day.

What sacrifice...
What intensity...
What kindness...
What concern...
What love...

This is how Jesus feels about everyone on opposing sides of all things such as....
political parties
racial issues
gender issues
immigration issues

So, does Jesus want one team to win the Super Bowl?

More than any professional athlete battles to win the game, we know that Jesus fights and battles for the souls of each person on this planet.

Have you let Him rescue your soul?
Have you joined Him in battling for other peoples' souls?

Seeking to look at the Super Bowl from Jesus' perspective,
Pastor Chris
