![]() How do you respond when you are being served? The startled Peter said to Jesus when he saw Jesus taking one of his feet to wash, "Lord, are you going to wash my feet?" Peter's response is natural and normal. "Jesus, excuse me, but You are the King of Kings, the Lord of Lords. You command storms to stop, demons to flee, diseases to be gone, people to be healed and raised from the dead. Only God can do these things. There is no way, God, You are going to wash one of the dirtiest parts of me; my stinking, filthy, ugly feet." How hard is it for us to receive service that we do not deserve? It is humbling. It is embarrassing. It is needed. It is overwhelming. It is wonderful. It motivates us to serve others. It causes gratefulness. All week long, Southtown Baptist Church has been served. New bathrooms, new classrooms, new garage, new paint every where, new electrical work, and the list goes on. Of course there were the two weeks plus of pre-work that needed to be done; the project managing and organizing, the deciding and purchasing of all the material, the bathroom tear outs, classroom and garage preparations, the financial giving and more. But now the cup is overflowing! There have been over 50 people from other churches serving us in amazing and cheerful ways. There have been over 40 Southtowners serving these past 3 weeks as well. What is our response? How can we praise God? How can we thank our brothers and sisters in Christ? What will each of us do? How can we say thanks? Maybe we can write notes and emails of gratitude. Maybe we can come and say thanks face to face. Maybe we can team up with them next year to help another church. Maybe we can invite friends to church to see and fill all the new places. The goal that Charles Dunning has for these work project mission trips is to help work on the building of a sister church so that church can better reach their community for Christ. The best thanks that we can give Charles and his team is for us to pray and invite our friends and family who are far from God. Charles and his team would love to hear dozens of stories of conversion growth happening right at Southtown Baptist Church. How will you respond to people serving us? Seeking to respond the best we can together, Pastor Chris
