![]() Motivating and Sobering. What motivates you? What sobers you? Look at one of Jesus' parables and how Jesus described the owners response to the gifts he gave his servants. To the one who buried their gifts and did nothing with it, “The master was furious. ‘That’s a terrible way to live! It’s criminal to live cautiously like that! If you knew I was after the best, why did you do less than the least? The least you could have done would have been to invest the sum with the bankers, where at least I would have gotten a little interest. Take the thousand and give it to the one who risked the most. And get rid of this “play-it-safe” who won’t go out on a limb.'" Matt 25:26-29 (Msg) Sobering. But, what about the owners response to the servant who risked. "His master commended him: ‘Good work! You did your job well. From now on be my partner.’" Matt 25:24 (Msg) Motivating. How risky was it for Jesus to go to a cemetery to meet a demon possessed man? How risky was it for Jesus to intentionally start a conversation with the Samaritan Woman at the well? How risky was it for Jesus to heal people on the Sabbath? How risky was it for Jesus to give ministry opportunities to the 12 disciples and then the 72 disciples? How risky is it for Jesus to give us the ministry of the Great Commandment and the Great Commission? Jesus said, "According to your faith, it will be done." Matt 9:29 How big is your faith? How small is your faith? What risks are you going to take for Jesus today? Tomorrow? Every day? Seeking to live out the Great Commandment and the Great Commission with the LR, BB and SS reminders, Pastor Chris LR = Listen & Risk BB = Be with & Build up SS = Serve & Share
